Hi Everyone! A few weeks ago Ashley and I went to check out the George Weir Barn in Lloyd Harbor, NY. It’s in the Camsuett State Park along with some other great historical buildings including the Lloyd Harbor Mansion. Even though I grew up so close to there, I had actually never been! What a beautiful park! I was really excited to hear about a new venue right in my neck of the woods.
When I first arrived I got lost, driving through the main entrance with quite a few barns, fields and beautiful gardens all around. Finally you stumble upon the historical George Weir Bar towards the end of the park, where you exit with a quiet inlet of the Long Island Sound right in front of you. When you arrive to the Barn it hits you, “Ahh”. It has its own lot of land, far removed and quiet. The perfect setting for a private and important affair.
The barn itself is large and very simple on the outside, which I loved! There is plenty of parking space as well. The inside of the barn is as rustic as rustic can be, but it seemed well maintained and wasn’t dusty, by evidence of the fact Ashley did not begin sneezing! There is also room to open the doors and have an indoor/outdoor wedding, tented or not. You do not have to use a tent if you have 146 guests or fewer. You can have an attached or detached tent.
Here are more details you need to know about hosting a ceremony and wedding reception at The George Weir Barn in Lloyd Harbor, Long Island, NY:
This is the perfect setting for a Rustic Wedding if you are concerned about guests having to drive long distances. This venue is closer than the North Fork and also most barn settings in Hudson Valley. For New York City based couples, the George Weir Barn is about an hour or less from Midtown. Camsuett State Park is in Lloyd Harbor which is a beautiful upscale community within Huntington, NY, just minutes from downtown Huntington Village, NY.
The great thing about the venue is that they host only one event per weekend, a big plus for Ashley Douglass Events when vetting new venues. Music at the barn must stop at 11:00 pm which is about an hour or half hour later than most other historical country-like settings. The maximum capacity is 146 guests, but you can set up a tent outside to increase your guest count. Tents must be rented from Empire Tent Co, and bathrooms must be rented from Outback Portables. There is also electricity in the barn and there is a bar inside of the barn! Bonus, you can feel good about making a donation to a historical society!
